In 2009, after a lot of years in and outside of Portugal Nico founded Wavegliders. From the will of creating a new segment of surfboards that have all the performance and functionality and also the artistic visual side.

Smooth Operator - Glide, Style & Easy Turns in One Magic Log

The Smooth Operator is a lovechild of two timeless shapes, the classic Noserider and the iconic Pig. Born from years of surfing and shaping experience, this board brings together the wide nose and lift of a Noserider with the pulled-back wide point, curvy hip, and turnability of a Pig. Add in a soft tail kick and blended concave, and you’ve got a board that locks in for noserides but still pivots with speed and flow.

Built with 50/50 rails, a rolled bottom that shifts to V through the fin area, and a subtle concave under the nose, it offers lift, control, and just enough drag to stay tight in the pocket.

Whether you’re just starting your logging journey or you’re a seasoned slider chasing classic style and smooth transitions, the Smooth Operator ticks all the boxes. A true all-rounder that’ll have you grinning from takeoff to kickout.

The Specialist – Where Tip Time Comes Naturally

The Specialist is our take on the ultimate classic noserider. Inspired by Joe Quigg’s pioneering designs from 1949, this shape became the benchmark throughout the ’60s, when long, stylish nose rides defined surfing and contests were won by spending as much time on the tip as possible.

Every curve on this board has a purpose. A deep nose concave creates lift and an air pocket beneath the nose, helping you stay locked in when you’re perched up front. The heavily scooped kick tail generates the hold and suction needed to keep the board anchored in the pocket, giving you the confidence to cross-step forward and settle into long, controlled nose rides.

The Specialist isn’t trying to do everything and that’s exactly the point. It’s built for surfers who appreciate the art of traditional logging, smooth trim, and spending quality time on the nose. A timeless shape that stays true to the golden era of surfing.

The Style Master Aka PIG – A Tribute to the Golden Era of Surfing

The Style Master pays homage to the “cool cats” of the mid-50s and 60s, an era when style ruled and the iconic Pig model changed surfing forever. Designed by Dale Velzy in 1955, the revolutionary Pig became the defining board of the decade, completely reshaping how surfers approached waves.

Velzy’s forward-thinking design sparked a wave of creativity throughout California. As surf culture boomed after World War II, the Pig became the board to ride, helping push surfboards from backyard experiments into a full-blown industry. Its influence on surf history can’t be overstated.

For me, the Style Master is more than just a board, it’s one of my favourite sleds ever shaped. A true passion piece, built for surfers who value soul, heritage, and pure glide.

Butter Knife – Razor-Sharp Classic Lines

The Butter Knife is our take on Australian involvement boards inspired on Bob Mctavish and Nat young shapes that changed longboarding forever. Classic lines on the outside, all business underneath. It’s lighter, thinner, narrower, and built to be surfed hard.

This isn’t a cruisy log for trimming down the line. The Butter Knife comes alive when you put it on rail, attack the pocket, and surf with intent. Fast, loose, and incredibly responsive, it’ll reward clean footwork, committed turns, and an aggressive approach.

Every detail has been fine-tuned to keep the board feeling lively under your feet, with just the right blend of drive, release, and control. It holds when you need it, releases when you want it, and carries speed through every section.

Copy Cat – A Timeless Classic, Reimagined

The Copy Cat is more than just a surfboard, it’s a tribute to the pioneers who shaped the golden era of surfing. Inspired by the legendary Greg Noll and Miki Dora, and built from the original blueprints passed down by my mentor, Jim Phillips, this board carries decades of surfing history in every curve.

Jim shaped my first Cat during one of my trips to California, and from the very first wave, it just clicked. There was no learning curve, no adjustment, just effortless flow. I surfed that board everywhere and it quickly became one of my all-time favourite sleds.

The unmistakable spoon nose is the signature feature of The Copy Cat. By removing foam from the nose while keeping the volume beneath the surfer, it creates a lighter swing weight and a unique flex pattern that brings the board to life. The result is a beautifully balanced log that feels lively under your feet, trims effortlessly, and responds with a smooth, flowing style that’s hard to describe until you’ve ridden one.
